Using SpiderOak on my Netbook (XP) and Linux box to backup and sync data effortlessly and securely. Works great, has kickass command line support, double zero-knowledge encryption and wonderful customer support.

Very happy!

I discovered SpiderOak a few months back. I like the simple $10 for 100GB pricing and ability to share storage across multiple computers. The user interface has been reliable and, so far, no need to call customer support.

Finally something that works correctly for Mac and PCs. Beats Mozy hands down.

Whoops. Here are my ratings for Spideroak

Review by Francis, April 9, 2010

I started using SpiderOak’s free service, but soon ran into the 2 gigabyte limit. Upgrade to 100 gigabytes for $10 a month was easy and I believe a good value over other options like Mozy. I have incremental back ups set to run automatically, but often run a back up on demand after completing a large editing hob. The back up process only transfers and stores changes to files. Duplicate file copies are not sent or stored. This helps cut down on network use and online storage space needed.

Tried Carbonite and looked at Mozy, but couldn’t justify cost or complexity for multiple accounts to support 5 PCs at home. With SpiderOak we use a single account to back up all the computers. We have Seagate Black Armour NAS drive to backup data locally and SpiderOak for remote data backup. Still need to test out file restoration a bit more. But seems simple enough.

I use it occasionally, not much, to share files with my wife and business partner.

Pretty nice system that has run well for me. Got my question answered (took two days, but the response was pretty intelligent and seemed like it was from a real person) and this is the best bang for the buck. Would recommend it.
