5Ive been using Livedrive for sometime now. Ive tried others like box.net and dropbox but Livedrive is on another level.
Everyone one day will be using a service like this.

2.3Features sound good but most don’t work. No security (although claimed), non-existent support. Good when it works I suppose.

2.3I used this service for about 6 months with only brief periods of satisfaction, before I demanded and got a refund. The service is an exercise in finding workarounds to make up for features that don’t work the way they should. Their support forums are full of people complaining about files that never upload, files that are missing, or files that are corrupted. Their claimed 24 hour support is an auto-reply. Most of my bug reports never got resolved or took months for an update that addressed them. They’ve hired a high-dollar PR firm to design a fancy web site and make lots of claims, but reality bites big time.

1.3Overall I gave it about a 1.. why?
I was with them almost 7 months… some user pointed out they had no encryption and posted their proof on the public forums when they existed.. they ignored the post!! A few months later they deleted the forums and made new private ones.. and released a new client with the option to disable encryption… I requested a refund since they were unable to prove it worked prior to that release… they accepted…

1I’ve only looked at this about a month… so many problems with their interface… its clunky windows software is very faulty. Their forums clearly have unhappy users!! And support is almost non existent even though they claim 24 hour support. I gave up on them.

2I’ve been a customer since the very beginning of this company. At the beginning they openenly lied to their customer about the security of the file transfer.
Lately they have lost data of several customers. Upload speed is lousy. There is NO customer support. LiveDrive won’t answer customer requests.
Summary:
Features that only exists in the product description, insecure data storage, slow upload speed and no existing customer support. Not worth even trying.

2Has anyone found a way to get hold of customer no support from livedrive? I was a idiot to put all my important files in the briefcase, now I can’t get into my account and I’m sol. I’ve been trying since Saturday morning, and absolutly no response. I think I must be sending emails into the heavens, because I have no idea if they have received them, or what.

4So far so good. Although the upload speed seems pretty low, I’ve managed to backup two PCs in their entirety this week by just leaving them to get on with it in the background. User interface is pretty straight forward. There’s a checkbox to switch off encryption – I doubt this really does *nothing*! The Briefcase is really nice – gives you a common network drive across all your PCs. UNLIMITED storage and UNLIMITED computers for $10 a month! Sounds good to me, but early days to be fair. Haven’t had to use customer support yet.

2Brought livedrive back in Dec 2010. Great idea, good price, what could go wrong? EVERYTHING! Unstable, a permanent battle to ensure files are getting backed up properly, really poor technical support. The service is a joke. If you just assume this service is safely and securely backing your data then suggest check it over real carefully. This service is fine if you don’t value your data.

2.3I’ve had varying levels of success with this product. Out of 4 computers I’ve got 2 working properly (my main one where it has all the files and another that I download the files when need be). Of the other 2 computers I have one that shows a very old file list and refuses to update (even after their infamous ‘Integrity Check’…. which does NOTHING!). The other computer shows no files AT ALL!!!
Their support is virtually non-existant… surely an auto-response cannot be considered a properly response? ’24hr Support Response’?!?! What a load BS!!! I’ve finally had an email from ‘Harry’ at Livedrive (after nearly 2 weeks & numerous support enquiries) saying my query has ‘been escalated to the Development Team’….. but reading the previous reviews I worry if this will do anything at all!!! I’ve been paying £15 a month for a few months now and I think I’m going to ask for my money back unless they sort it this week…………… I usually steer clear of paid services, but I thought this sounded like a good deal – how wrong I was!!!
If something sounds too good to be true it’s more than likely it is…. and Livedrive is just that!

1.7Got this on a £1 for first year deal (where they are hoping that you pay the higher fee for year 2) – At the speed it uploads, it might take a year to backup my key files! – it tends to sit there, many files queued, and every few minutes it transfers another file … then if lucky it says done or otherwise ‘re-queued’ .. then the delay again for the next file.
Not overly happy on the security options but limiting its storage to files I’m not concerned about. I have downloaded a couple of files I uploaded and that worked but I have no confidence that this would help me recover from a failed hard disk – thankfully I have no intention to rely on it! 2.1mb transferred while I wrote this – 3 jpgs! .. only another 4000 to go! .. and I have a 5gb cable upload speed!
