I think DriveHQ are one of the best. I haven’t been using them for long, but so far much better than my experiences with some of the others.

DriveHQ’s client software is superb. If you don’t like Client software, you can also use FTP and WebDAV drive mapping, which requires no installation of client software. I like DriveHQ service because of its overall quality and feature sets. You get more value for a low price.

I tried the free version, which is VERY limited in functionality because it will stop allowing FTP uploads after you do maybe 3 lowres pictures from a webcam. So I went month to month for $2.50, which
allows more uploads and online space. Then I pre-paid for a year for $30, and they started charging me twice a month, and all my credit was gone in 6 months. In numerous emails with support, they refused to admit their mistake for double-charging me.

The problem is their billing system, which doesn’t properly record orders and you don’t find out about their mistakes until months down the road. It is difficult to find out what you are being charged for and your current balance, and they take it for granted that your lack of understanding their billing system is your problem, not theirs.

The service works, but I do not do business with companies who treat their customers like a number, unless of course I don’t have a vendor choice. These guys behave like a monopoly and don’t realize their are plenty of other companies who offer the same service.

I was referred by PCWorld and thought to give DriveHQ a try. They are kind of different from other online storage companies, mainly because their service is geared more for business users. This being said, the software is easy to use. File Manager 5.0 supports drag and drop, so it is just as easy as Explorer or FTP.

It took a few minutes to understand how the group account service works. I particularly like their customer support. They are among very few companies still offering high quality customer support. The support staff is knowledgeable, and answers my questions right over the phone.

Customer support is great! They get questions answered and problems resolved quickly. The service is very sophisticated, can do a lot of things. The software is not hard at all, esp. with File Manager, FTP or drive mapping, indeed anybody can use it, though it might look hard.

I have trialled many online backup services and DriveHQ beats the rest for sure.

Pros:

Although I use an alternative app for disk image backup and management. DriveHQ is exceptionally good for:

* Online, real-time backup, particularly of documents.
* Ease of use, intuitive client apps, v.good
* Restore in the event of a problem v.easy
* Reliable, never had a problem with server outage.
* Very good web-based facility with file drag/drop.
* Can FTP no problem.
* Excellent mobile app (iPhone), I use it as a DropBox for easily getting documents onto my phone.
* Overall quality, never hangs or crashes.
* Not very intrusive or resource intensive.
* Perform v.well.
* The account also comes with free email and website hosting.

Cons:

* Client backup app; although it handles versioning, not much control over backup type ie. full or incremental.
* A tad on the pricey side, compared with many freebies, DriveHQ doesn’t give much away. Once Google enable FTP access, I think with the cheap Google storage available DriveHQ will have to re-think their price plan or lose custom.
* Billing system is rocket science, can be confusing.
* A database backup facility would be nice.

On balance; an excellent, highly polished backup system!
